Abstract
The aim of this research is to reveal that in developing students' critical thinking skills in Islamic religious education subjects, it is necessary to apply Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) based learning. The hypothesis that will be tested is how efforts or efforts to improve HOTS-based Islamic religious education learning. The research method used in this research is a qualitative method that uses a descriptive approach where the research model is class room action research. Data collection in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this research show that the implementation of HOTS-based Islamic religious education learning can be seen from the planning, implementation and evaluation implemented.
