Abstract

The aim of the research is to explain and describe the role of Islamic religious education in shaping the character of the society 5.0 era in students. The research was conducted qualitatively using a library research approach. Data collection techniques are carried out using documentation by collecting published scientific articles. Data processing techniques using reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The research results show: (1) Islamic religious education in the 5.0 era, namely the implementation of religious values ​​which will be used as a foundation for students to face the era of digital technology. (2) Islamic character of students in the 5.0 era: knowledge aspect, students can use technology; good attitude, students are honest, wise, smart and confident in using technology; skill aspect, students can operate technology. (3) the role of Islamic religious education teachers: as educators they can provide instructions on the use of technology, as teachers they can provide in-depth knowledge about the use of technology, (4) Islamic religious education learning in the 5.0 era can use technology such as e-learning, Massive Open Online Course , Powerpoint, LCD Projector, Information and Communication Technology and other software that is able to form an independent character, high motivation, able to manage study time well, and able to operate technology.
